Pincushion Bush, Hakea laurina 
tree of the family Proteaceae (Embothrium, Silk Oak, Hakea, Telopea)
Proteaceae are characterised by a calyx and an indistinct corolla and by flowers in 4 stamens.
Origin: south hemisphere, semiarid regions (southwest of Australia, West hills of Madagascar).
Height: 5 m in its original area. Shrub (and rare) in Mediterranean Europe.
Persistent foliage. Leaves a few tough, very serrated, light green.
Where to see it in France: some species on the French riviera, otherwise, more in the North, in greenhouse only (ex: greenhouse of Javel, in Paris).
